Press release:
The creative process that creates this exhibition consists in a pictorial project that encompasses the idea, Interior / Exterior,¨ resulting from an investigation of the construction of the way a fifteenth century, Flemish painting appears. Enter and leave the painting. The interior is understood as an analysis and pictorial construction, and the exterior (the landscape) is an understood as the scene of a personal narrative.
To enter the picture means creating or making the observation point, the object of one’s thoughts. Among the dimensions of the interior living space, paint/think this world that constitutes within it, and which is defined as a frame of representation within the painting. We are in the world of objects and we talk about the act of observing it as if it were a distillation of layers of meanings. Everything represented here has purpose unto itself and with respect to the rest of the picture. The painting leaves behind the allegory, in order to convert itself into an affirmation of what is visible.
Now we move to the exterior. The landscape becomes the setting for a complex, psychological universe, in which the death throes of an allegorical world twists, it contracts and expands, resulting in a collective scope of the unconscious; on one hand moral and archetypal, on the other whimsical and exuberant, within which, the landscape is the setting, host and protagonist. The landscape appears as a place that belongs to the individual. It seems as it would everyday, but the darker and complex aspects of consciousness also materialize. When we discover the inside of the room, observing the landscape through a window, we gather an idea of the existence of an ideal nature that does not have a reference to a psychological universe, but actually refers itself. However, when we find ourselves inside the landscape as observers, we encounter the true and dangerous nature. Within, we can find the representation of our own interior.
