Antonio Gonzáles Paucar (Huancayo, Perú, 1973) is young artist who exhibited in 2008 and 2011 in Galeria Maior. He graduated in 2005 at the Universität der Kunste in Berlin as a student of Prof. Rebecca Horn. His work is centered on his body, which is the tool of his performances, videoinstallations, sculptures and drawings. He reflects on those aspects that are the reverse side of our practical and materalistic society, such as randomness and magic. He becomes a shaman that performs sacred rituals and creates objects of devotion, yet with a sense of utter simplicity, putting together the uncanny and the commonplace. His work moves seamlessly from the Amazonic forest to the streets of Berlin, between the charcoal drawings generated by an invisible hand and the sculptures meticulously shaped with hundreds of flies.
